This attack on a Black establishment is not an isolated event, but a sustained campaign against Black people.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the Mangrove March and Amazon Prime Video dropped the trailer for Mangrove, the Steve McQueen (12 Years A Slave, Widows) co-written and directed film centering around the Mangrove 9, a group of Black activists who clashed with London police during a protest in March 1970. The highly publicized trial was the first judicial acknowledgement of racially motivated behavior with the Metropolitan Police.

Starring Letitia Wright (Black Panther), Mangrove will debut Amazon’s Small Axe series, all directed by McQueen, that celebrates little known stories of Black pride and resilience.

Release date TBD.
